The fuses blows over and over

Hi everyone at the forum!
I’m new here but have found it a great place to find information about the d8b.
A friend gave his d8b to me a couple of months ago but it’s not working properly.
The first time I turned it on the main fuse in the PSU blew, I replaced it and then 2 other fuses said goodbye.
Now I’ve changed all the fuses inside the computer and PSU but each time I plug it in it fires up for a couple of second and the a fuse goes again.
I have set the PSU to 220.

Does anyone happens to know which fuses that I should use here in Sweden (220v)?
I’ve checked the labels on the pcb but I want to be sure I’ve replaced with correct ones.
Thinking of trying it on 110v to see if it works better but my converter is a bit weak so I prefer to change fuses and so on instead.
Thanks for all the help!

Hey.

Unless your friend is from the other side of the pond, or got it from over there, I believe it should be fine on 220V. Mine is running fine on 230v (I'm danish).

I'd try to slowly work my way towards where the problem is. (you might need to get a few of the fuses, 'cause you're likely to blow some of them while trouble-shooting.

First, upen up the CPU-unit, and remove the cover for the power supply compartment.
There are two pcb's here that both has fuses on them.
The first one is closes to the pc power supply. this board distributes the mains voltage (220V in your case) to the various power supplies.
The second one is sort of the power distribution board, sending the power through the long cable to the desk itself.

Which fuses on which board blew?

If fuses on the first pcb blew, then somehow one of the powersupplies are pulling too much power.
If it's on the second pcb, then something in the desk might be pulling too much power.

Let us know, and we'll try to help you pinpoint the problem.

Regards
Anders

"The first time I turned it on the main fuse in the PSU blew, I replaced it and then 2 other fuses said goodbye."

Hi. As well as all the good advice given so far, check this......
The big connector that goes into the back of the d8b, unplug it and while you have it in your hand make sure the body of it is not loose from the cable clamp on it you should not be able to twist the cable clamp at all, this does come loose and if you have put this in and twisted the wires which is what will happen, one might have puled from its pin so...
Open it and check then tighten it all up... TIGHT.
the very fact you said this "The first time I turned it on the main fuse in the PSU blew" makes me think it could well be this as this is the only movable part to be connected, assuming your mains cable to the brain is ok.....
so .. check that,
Good luck..... will expect a full report on my desk by monday :-)

Thank you for the help!
I will finally have the opportunity to go to the city this weekend so then I’ll by some more fuses (the bad part of living out in the forest - you’ll have to plan when to go shopping). Hopefully I will get it will work.
