may have ruined something

Hey.
In my attempts at messing with the power supply, I might have ruined something in my d8b.
I can boot, and the firmware starts loading. However, when the gui pops up, I get a message saying the "dsp control card not ready". This message is shown both on the CPU monitor, and on the lcd display of the desk.
I've tried various things, and are fairly certain the problem is with the desk - not the CPU.

So I wonder what might have been ruined in the desk.
As mentioned I've been messing with the power supplies - I've bought some supplies on the net, with the plan to put them inside the desk, so I could make a smaller computer case outside with only the pc parts inside.
In my fiddlings I think I managed to reverse the leads for the analog power supply (+/- 16V). However, looking at the schematics, there are two protection diodes on the power board in the desk, so I would have thought it didn't do anything bad in there.

Anyone with deep knowledge of the insides have a good suggestion on how to start troubleshooting this?
I suspect it might be the dsp card, but I am unsure.
Anyone?

/Anders

Hi Anders

with all the help you have given others and me. I wish I could help you with this
the truth is I know very little about the d8b and I have been a user since 2000.
I hope someone will come on here and tell you anything they can about your problem.
like I said I wish I could help. but I know there are a few people on here with the deep knowledge that may know something about this. I hope so. thanks for all your help Anders

Thanks anyway :-)

I did manage to solve it.
I bought a DSP card on ebay - plugged it in, and now the problem seems to be solved.
I am curious about whether it could simply be the chip on that board that has gone bad.
I'm communicating with Funk, to see if he might be able to make a chip for me to try out.

That message also pops up with other problems, ribbon cable connectors etc, so it might be worth trying the board back in now that everything is working. ;)

well, things started working when I put the new dsp board in, so I'm quite certain that the problem is with the board.
Gonna be interesting to see whether a new chip could fix it.
