Application does not seem to load

New to the Forum...
I pastor a small church and someone generously donated a Mackie d8b mixer. The donor only owned the machine and had never actually set it up.
So far:
- Identified the machine as one with the newer motherboard
- replaced dead motherboard battery
- obtained correct cables and adapters to hook the power supply/cpu to the mixer
- connected mixer, cpu, and cpu peripherals (monitor, keyboard, mouse)
- reset the BIOS to factory specs
It will boot! Yay! No "Error 43" message. The flying faders move and the board says it is downloading effects and such...
At the end of the boot process I get the message, "loading application."
after which the screen goes blank. Everything is frozen in place with the exception of the mouse.
The board appears operational but no button works. The keyboard has the "num lock" light on but there is no response when any of the keys are pushed.
I am thinking that the program may be corrupted... but I really don't know at this point.
Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
