Hello to all. I get the Mackie D8B mixer, unfortunately the CPU does not charge me the operating system. I did many attempts but nothing to do.
I need help because it's been a long time since I can not install any version of my D8B ... I thought I would find a d8b user who could help me this way; clone (if possible) the operating system of a D8B User possibly on a USB stick or HD ... obviously I am willing to pay for this operation. I have all the permissions for both the plugins and the mixer. The problem is that it does not boot, it loads up to a point then it does a reboot and starts the same cycle and resumes from head but nothing in fact. I tried installing the system 2.x, 3.x, 5.x but nothing will charge me anything.
I wanted to ask: can you connect the cpu or the D8B (mixer) to a computer?
Which proprietary operating system uses the CPU?
Which motherboard does the d8b cpu use?

Actually, the cpu unit IS a computer - although it's quite old. You could even install windows 98 on it.
If you want to check whether it works, you could try to install a lightweight linux distribution like "puppy linux" on it, to see whether it would boot.

It uses an OS that Mackie themselves put together for this particular application. It's called MackieOS.

The BIOS settings (300MHz model) are all set as per Mackie instructions.
I tried installing linux and it went ok.
I have cleaned HD as by mackie instructions, when I try to install any kind of mackie system from 2.x to 5.1, error 43 or DSP error.I also changed the battery.

MackieOS is the operating system - it's not software that runs on another OS. It is likely built on an earlier version of windows, but it has been cut down to the bare minimum and edited to fit their needs.
This is aggrevating for most of us, since this means that we can't update the hardware to modern available devices.

You managed to install linux, and it ran fine? If so, it means the hardware is probably fine.

In order to help you, you need to be very specific about where things go wrong.
Can you boot from the install floppy disk?
Do you have a computer screen connected to the CPU unit?
Try to boot from the install floppy, and write down in detail what you do, and what messages the system gives you back.

It might be cheaper for you to simply buy a compact flash card reader to IDE adapter.
