Hello everyone!

A week ago a bought a d8b from a old member from this forum, he had some problems with the faders he said.
The problems he had did he write in the post down below.

http://www.d8bforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1039&p=8372#p8372

and

I was a little bit worried for the broken rail cap where everyone talks about, so i opened the d8b myself and looked to the brainboard and the 3 other boards where the faders are attached. i see nothing burned or oxidized. The looked almost brandnew!

So i looked further and i saw something maybe suspicious in the computerbox.
I think it has something to do with the power supply?

I see a lot of toxication and rust on that thing

hopefully someone can confirm this.

Thanks for helping me out!

I'm no expert but it looks like a couple of dry joints, maybe causing arcing, re-solder and see what happens.

Hi

I've repaired 6 of those d8b's and my conclusion is that over the years that 5v 22amp switched psu starts to get unstable.... that's why we all get strange symptoms.

Re place it....

I just wish that someone could find a psu to replace it with. I've tried a standard 5v 30 amp and yes it boots up but all lights is on and it freezes..... so I had to get a identical one from another CPU/ PSU d8b box

There is that small wire connected to the switched psu.... a sensor .... this one tells when the switched psu should turn on and off and so on.... that's why it doesn't work with a standard switched psu 5v 30 amps

All other stuff in the PSU/ CPU is easy to re-place. You can get old motherboards from eBay and even replace it with a different one.... I've done it several times.... it takes 30 minutes. You just have to know what you've doing otherwise it will burn out.....;)

Hello Van,

Are you also getting 'Error 43 - host did not boot' on the console display? Looks like there is no communication between the host computer and the console. Check the connections on the data cable or try another cable.
Could also be caused by BIOS settings, try checking the BIOS settings against the database http://www.sonido-7.com/d8b/maintenance.html#Post1
