hi all
eBay buy one d8b v5.1
received heavenly when not lit
install v5.1 but ask me the key to upgrade
the seller does not answer my emails where I request that code
wrote on Mackie tech support and they say that no longer generate these codes
install the v3.0 installation and everything works fine until I turn get this message:

Staring TCP/IP Socket Layer
Enabling Windows 2000 (tm) Compatibility Layer
C++ Initializers called.
Keyboar inited.
FTP Ready.
Aplication Frame Installed.

can you help me please and I saver if v3.0 is free, and never had a d8b why I have no more knowledge of it.
peace to all.

Hey jcfolgar;

Check your BIOS setting. I had trouble as well, and the "LBA" in the BIOS was wrong.

There are other posts in here regarding this. Also check Mackie website for "upgrading to ve 3.0".

Let us know what happens and further help will be there.

Hardware... going backward in compatibility from V5.1 to V3.0... check the Video Card & RAM...

The CPU may have an upgraded video card, in which case you'll need to locate an OEM card (or similar) or you'll have a potential driver issue. Also ensure the RAM capacity is 16MB or 32MB...

However, you knew it was coming so here it is :

Firstly, Read this:

Secondly, Read this:

Double check this (there are different BIOS settings for the old and new motherboards.

In this way you will be starting with a clean slate. If the seller won't supply the authorization code for V 5.1, then it's unlikely he had one and Mackie can't seem to provide them currently so you'll have to live with V 3. Make sure you have V 3 build 224 and also install the 16 bit patch (fixes a little anomaly).

It's posssible the original owner had the V 5 and the V 3 in the same startup folder. Big no-no.

If you follow the above, you should be ok to go.

Carefully set the bios as the document
HD is the bringer of d8b and works well
install v3.0 with d8b_Service_Pack_3 and shows me the same error

Staring TCP/IP Socket Layer
Enabling Windows 2000 (tm) Compatibility Layer
C++ Initializers called.
Keyboar inited.
FTP Ready.
Aplication Frame Installed.

with v5.1 installed and works fine on demo
the seller never answered my emails to give me the code
thanks for your help anyhorizon
It is good for you to give that service Mackie!
peace to all
