hey, i have an old d8b, and wasn't sure which OS it used, but I've tried the v.2 and v.3 OS from the Mackie website, and both disks will get to the point where they need to load the 2nd floppy, and they'll say something like "wrong installation disk".
i've opened the disk on a second computer, and there is only a single IMG file on both versions of the OS disk twos. am i missing something? i've tried using a different floppy drive on the d8b, but it does the same thing. any ideas?

did you follow the disk creation process?
Mackie Realtime OS v3.0 Build 224 Installation Instructions:

yes, that is exactly what i did. the disks that each installer created had different sets of files, but the 2nd disk only had one .img file. is that right, and if so, anything i should try to get it to read the 2nd disk?

It might sound like a stupid question but are you sure you have not mixed up the disks, easily done!
The image disk doesn't need any extra promting, it's a straight forward load.

yup. i labeled them 1 & 2, and just checked it again. after loading the first disk (which doesn't take to long), it asks for the second one, and i put it in and press the Continue, and it checks it and says it's not the 2nd install disk...
it gives the same message with both v.2 and v.3 disks...

i re-made the disks, taking extra care to note the numbers on them, and re-tried installation, but it still comes up with the error saying that i need to insert disk 2 (which i had already done).
any other ideas?

Not sure if this is relevant, but worth a try:
Check that your Hard Drive is recognized in the BIOS. Also turn OFF Large Memory Addressing (LMA) if it is ON.
Good Luck!

Check your Video Card and RAM, too... make SURE it's compatible w/ V3... I've had instances during troubleshooting (
LONG story, don't ask) where the Video and/or RAM can be an issue. This is definitely hardware related, just difficult to determine '
what' exactly it is at Face Value...
You knew it was coming, so here it is:
