Frozen meter bridge, no audio issue.

I'm having an issue with the console freezing up on me. There has always been a few minor glitches with this board since I bought it but now there seems to be a much more serious issue and the board has been freezing up on me.

Initially I thought this might be a temperature issue, seeing as how the board always seems to function correctly for the first couple hours of a session, and the room isn't cool by any means, but I always keep a little fan on the cpu. But, after a while, whether it's during playback or tracking doesn't seem to matter, the meter bridge will freeze and no more audio can be heard. Then after rebooting, it takes less than 5 min. for it to happen again.

I've been reading through the database, and it seems that there are multiple possibilities. I have checked the bios settings, flushed the startup sessions, calibrated the faders, reseated the ribbon cables in the cpu, swapped the apogee clock card out with the stock card, reconnected all digital in/outs and the bfc, and data cables.

I feel like I have exhausted all my options without opening up the console... Does anyone have any suggestions.
Could this be a battery issue or rail cap?

You've re-seated the connectors on the CPU but not in the desk itself, it's worth a try.

I have to agree with peter on this
he has told me this same thing so many times
its not funny and he has been right every single time
when it comes to things like this with the d8b peter is as smart as they come
him and a few more on this forum. there has been some smart people
on this forum that are no longer with us. I am happy that peter and the other
smart ones are still with us.

Thanks guys, sounds like a pretty simple cut and dry case.
I am going to tear into the console tonight, I had to get a couple alligator clips to make a ground wire for the chassis.
Hopefully this is the solution.
While I'm here, there is another glitch that keeps happening and I'm curious if it could be derived from the same issue.
Every once in a while, when I reboot, the lights in the master section of the board will all start to flash at the same time, and if the speakers are on there will be a little pop with each light up. Could this be a separate issue that I need to look at while the board is open?

Do a search for "rail cap" in the database. I'm assuming you have the 166 MHz version. A few articles in there. Finding the offending ones might require a tech unless you're up on that stuff.
