Single dead fader (channel 2)

I have a d8b, it is working well and fine. No CPU problems, I am using it as a DAW controller.
It seems as though I have a problematic / dead fader. #2 only, everything else is working fine. But its not "dead" per se, I still get fader value change messages from it when I move it, but when approaching inf dB I can feel the motor trying to "grab" it and send it all the way down. It does not respond to move requests.
I've checked the rail caps on this board, (C101 and C102 respectively for this channel) and they appear fine, it's a REV3. I checked the ribbon cable and it too appears to be OK.
Where should I look next? Seems funny that I can read its value, but its not seeking to it correctly - kind of points to a controller issue. But is it going to be U101 / U102 or the brain board?
Is there a drop-in replacement single motor fader?
Thanks!
Sid
