D8B Control surface as a standalone???

Hi
OK, was gonna sell my old control surface spare(that I know is fully working, as I used it once with the old CPU I had, when the other control surface went doolally) and break it up as spares. But... seems people are, understandably, very wary of buying odd bits and pieces, as there is no way they can be sure they are working. So Im keeping it in one pice, and possibly just sell off the cards, if I cant use them in the following application below.Fair enough!
So, I need to power the control surface only (as I got rid of the CPU with the other control surface) From, I guess, the big round plug at the back, and use the the D8Bridge, available elsewhere on the forum
Is this madness?
Cant find a pinout of this plug (is it in the mackie service info page-cant find it) Have found the power rail connections internally, but would like to do it Via the main big round plug, to keep the integrity of the control surface
Which power rails need to be powered?
What are their current requirements?
Does the D8Bridge work with Cubase, etc?
Am I missing something?
I have various cards, AES/EBU, Apogee clocks, ADAT etc--no FX cards, but, obviously I dont need to run any audio thru the desk
Cheers All
