No, not at all. I was just offering up another area to focus on. I think it's a good idea to re-install the OS. Service Pack 3 as well.

OK, will try and do the reinstall first to see this remedies any of these "intermittent" issues this week.
However, if this turns out to be some sort of Cage/back-plane problem or Brain Board issue, will I need to send this to Mackie? do they even service the d8b these days?

S&X audio located in Tukwilla is the place to send it. This is where a lot of the ex Mackie folk make a living.

I think they moved back to the Woodinville industrial park. The listing is:

19510 144th Ave NE # B1 Woodinville, WA 98072‎
(425) 402-6633

If the Tukwila number doesn't get you anywhere, try the Woodinville number.

OK....S&X are no longer in Tukwila.

The Woodinville address and number is correct. Tukwila isn't.

19510 144th Ave NE # B1 Woodinville, WA 98072‎

DBM has been around for a long time. When I used to work in NY, they did repairs for me and they were fine. However, S&X may have an advantage as far as spare parts are concerned. They did scoop up a ton of that stuff when they started up years ago. And the techs there are former Mackie people.
S&X are open Mon-Fri 8am-5pm PST. Not sure about weekend time.

Depending upon which coast you're on (or nearer to) might narrow the choice, shipping cost-wise.

Well, if they are closer to you and they have mothership approval, go for it. S&X has a proven track record with the community here and with me. They rebuilt a HUI for me and the work was perfect so that is why I say S&X.

Some of your issues sound similar to what I was having. Because it was not consistent for some issues and consistent on others it drove me crazy. Turned out to be my hard drive with a bad sector. I used a compact flash adapter with a 4 gig card. Fixed my problem, no more HD and no more noise. Before you ship your board out give this a try.

What was the process for the compact drive and 4 Gig card that you used?
