Hi lads;

Here is an update as to my progress on this.

I was never able to make the FTP connection work on my d8b or my HDR.

I swapped network card.
I purchased new crossover CATe cables.
I down loaded both of the FTP server software recommended, one would not load the other did not find d8b or HDR.
I tried using my Window 7 machine.
I had a computer person (whatever that means), come in a look at it (she couldn't make it work either, $20.00 lost).
I tried using the Mackie desktop manager to copy the file, it didn't find the file on the floppy (I know it was there as I rechecked it on another machine).
I changed Subnet address making sure it matched the d8b and the other way around as well.
I made sure the IP address was the same following all the advice given from you guys and others.

After doing this and several other things, I took the HD out of the d8b, installed it in another spare XP machine I had and copied the file from the floppy (the one above), to the correct location on the d8b HD, reinstalled it in the d8b and it all worked. I have what I wanted in the first place, the hach'd file installed and working.

When I was working, my boss called me a LUDDITE, which apparently I am that and also unlucky when it comes to computer based things. I guess I just can't speak the language.

Bottom line, thanks for your help and advice it was a very good learning experience. I will continue to try to get the network connection to work and will let you know my progress (once i have any progress).

Cheers
Bruce
