I think you would be wasting your time. because Mackie don't have
anymore use for there d8b owners anymore. I think its around 14 years old
and its out dated. well mine is anyway I got it in 2000. but please I also think that
it would be a good thing if you do that. because at least we can say we have tried
everything people can think of and Mackie still would not help the d8b users.
I hope something will become of this.

So, how is it that Mackie could legally advertise to sell you something that doe not work. They should be sued for that. It is a open lie! I got the idea while thinking about this that, well, If Mackie is not going to listen or do anything about this then why not get their attention through other media outlets. I for one subscribe to at least 4 periodicals that test and rate products all day long. "Music Tech Magazine", "Computer Music" and "Future Music" just to name a few. Computer Music just did a spread on vintage gear through the years. We should write a letter to the editor of all these periodicals and see if anyone wants to do a story on this. I think that would get their attention and pretty fast.

I would even volunteer to write such a letter. What does everyone think?

Have at it.. NOBODY likes Bad Press or Spin, nobody... it simply has NO Advantages...

I'd have no issue detailing my own situation, as ridiculous as it is. I'm not gonna speak for anyone else, but my feelings are the vast majority here that are affected by this would back this endeavor 100%...

Peace

I totally agree with RJH_MUSIC. We should do this letter.

I Hear that! Making the chip thingy work is the best plan of action. In the meantime, I will draft a letter to several industry magazines that I subscribe to, providing a chronological order of events on this issue and will post it here for review and revision. Just give me a few days because I somehow caught the flu and the damn thing won't leave me alone. Hopefully I should be better in a few days. I think the mere fact that this post has seen approximately close to thousands of views and over 210 replies ought to say something.

They will not fix it. The d8b glory days for Mackie are now OVER.
The chip workaround is the only hope otherwise we have to stay with V3 which i don't like.

Such a great desk and 5.1 makes it better. Mackie really are a pack of ..... for not allowing the software to be authorised anymore. Clearly, a nasty element is dwelling at HQ. What goes around comes around... it's called Karma and unfortunately, it ain't always instant... but when it comes, it's devastating.

peter you are so right about karma
and I do hope that Mackie gets a peace of karma
then maybe they will know what its like to be on a
ship that is going down. not being smart I just think Mackie
should help out with this matter. its not like there loosing
any money from helping out on this. like you said peter what goes
around comes around and Mackie needs to get some karma like
the Mackie users are getting.
