Hello guys,
It took me some time until I could manage to work on the problem...
Here is a short update on what I made: ;)

I followed all your advises and cleaned the power ribbon cable connectors with contact spray. :ugeek: I even cleaned all the other cables inside the console unit, too. Further I removed all the FX expansion cards, the Apogee word clock card and the 3 ADAT extensions. I opened the CPU unit as well and cleaned all the contacts of any cable that has somehow a connection with the power supply.

:!: The result: :!:

The error is still the same. After around 2 minutes the console shuts down. The CPU unit still works though, I can use the Keyboard, the mouse, but the console wont respond to anything.

I am thinking to just sell it back on ebay and to get my hands on a new one ... any other ideas that could bring me further?
Thanx

If you are suddenly losing comm between console and CPU and ribbon cables are not fixing it, then I would look at the Brainboard. That is the board staring you in the face right when you take the bottom off. That would be my arm chair troubleshooting talking. I am not sure what you could really do to troubleshoot it though, other than see if the TX and RX lights are firing while comms are happening and then go dark when they don't.

Not sure where you are in the world but S and X audio in Washington state, Seattle area, are pros at getting these things firing again. Maybe contact them and see if you can send them just the brainboard to look over. There address is on here somewhere or you can Google it.

hitfactoryromania wrote:...When you get the error that says, DSP Card Not Ready, it usually means that the D8B cannot communicate with some peripheral connected to it. Try reseating the sync/word clock card that is in the back of the D8B console. Also, try reseating the data sync cable, which is the parallel printer cable that connects the D8B console to the CPU...

It does sound heat-related. This is exactly the error message I get when I try to boot the d8b and I've accidentally left my data switch (http://www.d8bforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=696) in the D8Bridge position, meaning the data connection between the d8b control surface and the CPU has been interrupted. There are some excellent ideas here already, but if you haven't done it yet, removing, cleaning and reseating the db25 data cable at both the CPU and the console as suggested may help. Good luck!
