HUI won't go online unless MTC is detected from Cubase and from my reading of your Audiophile interface manual, you're dealing with a dinosaur that made no allowance for MTC. I think it's time to pony up.

Before that however, you should go to a forum that knows about the Audiophile card and establish whether it passes/recognizes MTC or not. You have quite a few alien creatures in your setup there ;)

Your Opcode card is perfectly good as far as it is a Winman.

From Mackie's Detailed d8b FAQ:

I still have the impression that your interface is not sending MIDI properly but your have to rule out that the d8b reads MIDI before.

the faders, the jogweheel, the buttons around the jogwheel, play stop buttons. everything works exept the lightingss, on the d8b desk, and the sign that says HUI CHANNEL OFFLINE, if only that comes online it will be marvelousss.. justt keep on experimenting with all kinds of stufff..... :)

That's because the M-Audio Audiophile card obviously passes Midi Machine Control (MMC) but not MTC.

Your cheapest and most reliable option is the MOTU Micro Express USB (click image for details):
