Well, it's recommended that they all be of a similar length but I've used all kinds of length and never had a problem. Good quality 75Ω cable is more important. I guess if you had to exceed 5 metres, there might be an issue but that's about it.

Dear Gurus,

Do you have any idea about the recommended length of the BNC Wordclock cable? Having a cable that runs from the digital soundcard to another digital soundcard then to a d8b and finally to another d8b with a total length of 9metres should be ok?

Dear All,

I grabbed another APOGEE Clock card so i have TWO d8b's each with an apogee clock card. Can you please tell me how to connect using the T-BNC connectors these two mixers plus the MOTU 2408mk2 audio device?

Is it possible to make the MOTU 2408 the master and slave two d8b's ?

Just connect them all in line, make a HDR the master and the rest slaves, but a word of warning you will now have five units running from one card which will be very unstable, I have done it but it's not the best way to go, you need a Master Clock.

When you couple two d8b's together, one will be the master, it will receive eight outs from the slave via the ALT card, these will come into the master at the Effects Bank.

8 analogue out's/in's can be used to the 2408 from the master d8b and then from your 2408 to your PC with Cubase etc, these will come back to the master d8b with the Line in bank. You will also need a midi out from you HDR to a Motosport 2x2 for example (Keyboard) and then to Cubase.

Hi Phil.c.

Thanks for your advice. I dont have an HDR. The units are two d8b mixers, and two motu 2408. I think there is no need to connect the two motu's in line. IT seems that if you clock one motu 2408 the other will automatically slave to clock since they are both connected to the same PCI424 card in the same pc. Well i have to check it out by trying. Still have to buy the BNC cables.

Thanks loads

Again, I will suggest purchasing a Master Clock. Unfortunately, this is a "throw money at it" solution because master clocks (like used Big Ben, GenX 192's....etc) aren't cheap. The hookup would be Master clock outs to all units. The D8B's and 2408's would be set to External Clock or Slave mode. This will work brilliantly and trouble free as far as clicks and pops are concerned.

Found this one for $499. Reasonable price. Big Bens go for a lot more and don't spec out as well as the old GenX's.
