Suck or Blow, Which is Better?

Postby bitSync » Sat Feb 15, 2014 10:42 pm

Does anybody know, does it matter whether the CPU fan pushes air down over the CPU heat sink (what my current fan does, label up) or pulls air up through the heat sink (what my new fan does, label up)? Thanks.

Blow. That is operate counter clockwise. If yours is running clockwise you need to reverse the polarity of the wires.

In the scheme of things, there isn't one... just chaos.

Or flip the fan upside down? The fan is rotating in the correct direction for the curvature of the fan blades.

You should be OK, that connector will only go onto the 3-Pin bird post jumper one way, IIRC... I have Fractal R2's (50mm hydraulic bearing) fans installed in both my D8B and HRD 24/96. They're EXTREMELY quiet and will last a LONG time. They're a 'No Brainer' snap-on install onto the existing heat sink, too. Just be careful removing the old fan assembly...

Peace

That's exactly what I got, Fractal Silent Series R2 50mm with hydraulic bearings, quietest noise spec I could find. I bought 3 of them, 1 for each of the 2 d8b CPUs and a spare. I'll try a different one and see if it's any quieter than the first one I tried.

Yes, the fan's power connector is keyed to only go on the 3-pin CPU Fan power header one way.

Thanks guys for hanging with me through this...
