GRAPHICS CARD alternative

Postby funk » Sat Sep 14, 2013 2:18 pm

My graphics card in the D8B has been playing up for the last 3 months gettting worse by the week.
started as coloured dots going down the screen until eventually it was starting to break up the picture.
last time wiping the screen out completely, when i rebooted i was getting what looked like green chinese letters
every 2" square from each other !!!

When i came to look for another i found the card in it was not the same as the mackie recomended
Radeon ATI 7000, But a ATI Rage128 VGA 8MB AGP Video Card 109-52000-30
any way found one on feebay for £8 sent, but a a diff number109-52000-01.
so for £8 thought i would take a chance,
popped it in and hay presto works great,
changed the ram to 256 while i had it open
im wondering now if the mor common 16 bit one works as thee is on ebay for £5 sent !!! worth a try
unless someone here has already had a go.

Just thought this might help someone ( V5.1 btw)
this is the old one....
