Fader Bank Getting Hot!!!!!!

Postby Mirage Music » Tue Jul 02, 2013 12:22 pm

Hi
Fader bank 1-8 has developed a bit of random behavior and is giving out heat. It still works although rather sporadically.
Any ideas?

If the faders are sticking then the heat your probably feeling is from the constant pull on the motors. I won't say I had the same problem but this was the cause of mine.

Thanks for the reply Casey,
The faders seem to be locking up and feel stiff. A little movement seems to release them but then the next time I switch banks they lock up again and start to warm up. Not sure of a solution...........

hmmmm if you swap bank 1 with 2 does the behavior follow the module? I'm talking physically moving the fader board in the console.

Is it all 8 faders in the bank? I would try Casey's suggestion but instead of physically moving the fader banks, I would just swap the fader bank side of the ribbon cables between the two banks to see if the behavior is the fader bank or it is further upstream.

I couldn't remember if the ribbon cables would reach, but that is a more preferable option for testing.
