Resurrecting my studio...

Hi folks. My studio has been in boxes for a couple of years. I stopped doing music when libraries became to cost effective for my clients.
The music bug has started to itch again and I'm intrigued with the idea of working in 24/96 quad or surround.
I have a couple questions about setup and possibilities.

I have a D8B with 256 ram, 300mHz Dig i/o card, apogee clock card, 3 tape send/return cards, 1 mfx card.

This will tie into a MOTU 2408 mkIII @ 24/96 into Dig Performer.

What will I have to do to the D8B to make it compatible with 24/96?? Is it even possible?


Have any of you folks done surround mixing on the board? If so what did you do for bass management? Did you mix everything full range and let software deal with cutoff for the LFE?

Welcome to the forum.

I'm afraid that the d8b can not be modified/upgraded to operate at 96Khz, just 48Khz.

I know that music bug you are having. It's common to musicians when we come to an age

I myself operates the d8b at 48 Khz connected to Nuendo. I do have my console connected to Genelec's Surround System via the Buss Out connector.

The bass management is happening at the sub-woofer.



Surround is a very interesting and funny format to play around mixing with.

I hope you get it all up an running. You won't regret it.

Thanks for the response Peter. Yeah, I just got off the phone with Mackie..... There's no way to modify the unit to do what I'd like.
But, I'll still used the board. Just for monitoring control and a HUI controller. I think I'm going to use the MOTU 2408MKIII to capture and mix through.
That runs @ 24/96.

I have a older Genelec system that includes the big 1092 sub. I'm having trouble finding rear speakers though. They show up on EBay every now and then...
I'll keep posting my progress should someone else go down the path.
