d8b with Alesis HD24 MMC Problems

Postby doghouse » Mon Aug 31, 2009 2:47 pm

Hi, I have just purchased a used d8b in a very good condition and hooked it up with a Alesis HD24
Obviously the d8b sends permanently MMC on the Midi Out and START, STOP and the Time-Code Disply seems to match (work together) but not the FastForward or Fast Rewind nor the RECORD Button or the assign to control the status of the tracks (HD24)!

Is there a way to get this working or is it due to the fact that MMC is a "open" protocol and every manufacter has its own specs?

cheers

Hey Doghouse,

I've run my d8b with an HD24 for years and you are correct on the fast forward & rewind not working - never has, never will. Nor will the Jog/Shuttle wheel. I get around this by keeping my LRC handy next to the console for FF & Rewind. The record button (with the play button pushed and held first) should work, as should the track arm/rec ready buttons. Are you routing your MIDI connections through an outboard unit? I've had some issues with my MOTU Midi Express failing to connect correctly, resulting in unpredictable transport & function control between the d8b and the HD24, including loss of the numeric display and inability to arm tracks from the console. Also check under the "Midi" menu on the HD24 that it's set to send MTC but NOT MMC. Good luck!
