D8B, HDR24/96, MMC, MTC Issue

Postby carnesaudio » Fri Nov 06, 2009 6:16 pm

Ok,
Help is needed ASAP!
When I press the transport buttons (play in particular) on the D8b i get flashing led on that button, TC doesn't roll, and the HDR does nothing.
When I roll from the HDR, the D8B transport does nothing. I receive audio signal to the D8b, but all transport functions fail to work.

I am using radioshack midi cables, d8b out to hdr in, hdr out to d8b in.
The HDR is set to generate MTC.

Can someone link me to a quick reference on how to verify my settings?
All the Mackie tech page says is D8b is always sending and HDR is always looking. (not much help)

Assuming your midi cables are ok, the next things to check are the midi breakout cables for the d8b and hdr. Are they original or are they from ebay? Some ebay ones are wired incorrectly. Go here and look for the correct wiring. After that, go to the same place and make sure that the BIOS settings are correct for your d8b. Pay particular attention to IRQ 10. The settings are different depending on which motherboard you have. There is a lot of information in that database that can help you out. There's also a DATABASE link at the top of this page, copied from the one over at Mackie.

I have the original breakout cables, they don't show signs of wear.
The radioshack cables are new. I just put a multimeter on them and all was well.
I followed the Bios sheet from the database and made sure it was exact. Replaced the CR2032 before that.
~side note~ IRQ 10 was not set correctly.
I checked the card seating in the CPU as well.
I guess it's worth noting that this is v3, and the processor is running at 300mhz.

I haven't opened the desk up yet. What ribbon controls the transport functions?
Is there a a bios sheet for the HDR?

Thanks for your help.

OH HAPPY DAY!!!
Seems that the HDR Bios reset IRQ10.

Is it ok to set the HDR bios to the same settings the D8B bios uses?

Once again thanks for you help.

Yes. That should be set the same as the d8b. IRQ 10 - Legacy ISA. If BIOS settings change of their own volition, it's a sign that the battery is on the blink. Clean the terminals and stick a new one in and meticulously set the BIOS parameters again. Sorry to harp on this.

Also without wishing to insult you, double check that the midi cables are correctly connected. ie out HDR to in d8b and vice versa.

Cheers,

Peter
