PSU stopped working, help needed

I turned on the D8B today and went out the room for 30mins so didn't see it booting. When I came back in the room the red Solo light was on but the desk's display had no text on it, it was just blank with no error messages. The Monitor screen was off waiting for its signal and there was no fan noise on the brains PSU.

I restarted and got a error 43 message this time but no monitor screen and I couldn't hear the fan on the brains PSU.

After first removing my DAW as it was in the way I pulled the brain out of the rack. I then tried plugging the mains cable back in again and the fan kicks in and it starts up. Sadly I didn't wait for it fully boot as I wanted to quickly make sure it would start again but it never started, it just shows error 43 and the fan is not turning again.


It looks like the AT-PSU has given up. Has anyone replaced the PSU?, As AT- PSU is old now will a ATX- unit work? I can see there is also an ATX slot on the motherboard but not sure what I would have to do to wire this to the other part of the PSUs.

If anyone has some very detailed advice on how to fix this I would but truly grateful.

It should be possible, but you'll need to get electricity to the other two PSU's in the CPU case, too. This means opening the ATX power supply and running wires from the IEC socket to the 'fuse board' and back. I'd rather not give instructions as it is quite dangerous if you're not experienced in this kind of thing - and would be a breeze to perform the modification if you were.

Otherwise you only need to short the 'power switch' lead on the ATX connector and you should be good to go. I'm not sure the ATX connector on the motherboard will work correctly, though. Maybe you'll have to use the old fashioned AT connector and modify the PSU leads accordingly. Remember to connect a HDD power plug to the regulator board, as well!

Edit:
Make sure the new PSU has air inlets and outlets free when mounted in the CPU case! The original PSU fan supplies the necessary airflow for not only the PSU but the whole box, so it is not only in the interest of the new PSU but all electronics.

before I look for a ATX that fits the space, do you know if AT-PSU are still available here in the UK, I have email LOUD Technologies Europe PLC but not had a reply yet.
