D8B 5.1OS Authentication Code

I used an SATA/IDE adapter to read the HD.
Locating the .key file and found an 8 character code.
It will not boot the d*b 5.1 OS, other than into DEMO mode.

How do I convert sdryhedg to a 12 digit hex code (I believe this is required), that can be used as the Authorization Code?

Sounds like you're trying to bypass the auth-code check. The 5.1 authorization has been hacked twice with different methods, and these hacks are both available on this forum.

The newer one (that does not require you to enter separate shared/generic auth codes for all the plug-ins) can be found here:

Basically, you just replace the MackieOS.exe file with a hacked version of it, and won't need an auth code for the Mackie OS, anymore.

I'll give it a try.
So what is that 8 charcter (sdryhedg) code I found in the .key folder?
I've been trying to convert it to a 12 digit hex with no luck... keep getting a 16 digit hex that won't work.
I have the ESN. I read that with an ESN and knowing the OS verision 5.1, an authorization code could be located.
No luck so far.
The ESN is 0000-01E6-9CD7.

Just a couple quick ideas...
If you have a D8B...would the Authorization Code you use work on mine?
Or would you sell a copy of your 3 disks to reload 5.1 along with your authorization code?

Hey Rick;
Welcome to the d8b Forum.
The answer to your second question is......No. No other Authorisation code will work with your d8b. It is unique.
When you use "the Hack" your ESN is changed to be the required ESN to unlock OS 5.1 and unlocks all off the plug-ins. There is no otgher way to get the results your are looking for. For those of us using the Hack, we all hace the same ESN.
The Key-code generator, the computer that produces the un-lock codes, died years ago and was not replaced. No other authorsation codes can be created.
Either Hack 1 or Hack 2, are your answer.
Follow what Y-My-R has told you and you will get results. Now.... that is assuming everything else in the console and CPU are working. Remember these beasts are 20 years old and are subject to a "few" problems. But should you need help getting it going this is the place to be. Ther are a great many people here to help along the way.

Replacing the MackieOS.exe on the CPU's HD with the HACK worked... First try !!!
No Auhtorization Code Prompt, No Authorization Code needed and NO 7 minute limit stuck in DEMO mode.
Another D8B rasied from the grave !
