Need a clock card for test...

Postby DanaZ » Sat Mar 12, 2011 11:01 pm

Hi all,
It's been so long since I stopped in and chatted. :( What do they say about fair weather friends? Well my d8b has been down for about 2 months and I've got my it in for service with what appear to be a couple of possible clock related issues.

Darn channels reversing in pairs. The technician who's trying to help me find my way back to sanity has tried the following...

Here are some things to try if you experience this phenomenon:
Rebooting fixes many problems.
If you are clocking from an external word clock, try booting with your clock source off and then try booting with it on. Some d8bs like to boot with the word clock source on, others like it off (that is, they will only boot properly one way).
There may be a problem with your clock card. Try reseating it. With the power off, pull it out and put it back in again. It may be a good idea to clean the contacts with an eraser.
If you have access to another clock card, try using it instead. For instance if you use the Apogee word clock card, but still have the stock (internal only) card, see if it works with the stock card. If the stock card works, it could be an indication that the Apogee card has a fault.
Finally, you may have to have a service center look at it. Check with Mackie tech support first, just in case they have other tricks for you to try.
I did as suggested here. The next step is to try another Apogee card or the original stock Clock card. Do you happen to have either available? My source on the other coast may have something.

Does anyone have a known good clock card that they would be willing to loan me so we can proceed with diagnostics?

I'm happy to work out whatever arrangements required to ensure your security.

Wish you all the best!

Hi Dana,

I happen to have a spare stock clock card.
Living in Europe.
So it might be a little complicated, sending back and forth ?
If you pay for the postage, it´s cool for me.

Hi all,
I've located my stock clock [packed away in boxes]

Thank you for all the offers to help!

I may need to post to this thread for myadvice if this doesn't help resolve the problem.
