Floppy boot fail

Do you still have the original video card? If so, I would throw that in and see what happens.

Good Morning,

Last night I reinstall the original video card and was still able to see VGA monitor and get to the BIOS settings screen, so guess the video card wasn't the issue. Have reinstalled all three Mackie OS version 3 disks but upon rebooting the unit get a message that says Boot Fail Floppy Disk. Anyone have any ideas where do I go from here. Does this mean the the HD needs to be rebooted with MS DOS?

did you remove the floppy disk from the floppy drive before rebooting?

Yes, once the final disk is done installing the mixer board screen says eject disk and reboot hit " OK " once I hit the OK button on the mixer everything seems to start like it wants to reboot but then just a blank VGA screen with the green asterisk in the top right hand corner and nothing...after extended period of time I just shut down the cpu and restart it and that's when I get the Boot Fail Floppy Disk on the VGA screen and the mixer readout with the Error 43...I'm lost now...

First if you are using version 3, I would advice you to download and install version 5.1 instead. You can find info on this forum on how to "hack" the registration.

Second, your problem could be, that you are not formatting the harddrive, when you install.

Thank you for the tips and info, I will install 5.1 as I have the three disks just never had the unlock codes/resgistration.

I did purchase a USB to IDE Converter to get into my HD and get to these files.
The actual message I get once I start to boot up the CPU is

Searching for Boot Record from Floppy..Not Found
Searching for Boot Record from IDE-0..OK
File Not Found
BOOT FAIL

So I will follow these steps given in the Sonido website and hope I can "Hack" the 5.1
