Hey Captain;

Yes so true. My is just a hobby, I'm a retired CBC Recording/Broadcast Mixer (you should heard of the CBC), and just enjoy recording and mixing in general. Busy hands, busy mind.

I found a working d8b in New Jersey but thinking "maybe not". Exchange rate and shipping make it crazy. I love the way the d8b workflow is and not sure I will be able to replace that with a more modern desk.

I have a working HDR with external drives but no remote control, other than the d8b. So my head is stuck in my setup using the HDR. The new consoles that I have looked at don't seem to do things in a different way. More research. I have Analog and AES/EBU cards for the HDR.

What I have looked at that shows some promise is the Presonus StudioLive 64 channel unit. I have a StudioLive 16-4-2 AI that I use for a band that I play in.

I saw you video to someone in the forum showing your setup, Do you have a paper copy of your setup? If you do I be interested in seeing it. But not to worry if you don't.

I may have a few spare parts coming up so if you need anything let me know. I would be willing to help out.

Thanks for your thoughts. Always get good advice from the people here.

Cheers
Bruce

Hey Bruce...yep know all about CBC....one of their office was ~ 10min from the house when I lived in Montreal. I am sure you must have some interesting stories to tell. They were (are) still one of the audio/video network premier services around the world.

You have an interesting setup with HDR. I am sure the guys on the forum can help you more than I can w.r.t. HDR setup. I use the d8b strictly as a pass-through mixer with some effects processing/gains.
I do most of my recording, automation, workflow ect on my MAC DAW running DP/PT/Logic and MOTU gear.

It's been a while since I have been up to Montreal, let alone Ontario...living in Boston has made me lazy :)

Be safe
