Output troubleshooting question

Seems silly to me but with Zero change in set up I am suddenly getting an "In and Out" sound on my new guitar tracks that I am recording during playback. This is not a new set up or even a new session in cubase... just adding tracks to a session. The wav meter shows a consistant track volume and I do not get any waivering durring tracking, however during playback it is in and out as if someone is slowly moving the fader up and down. Not sure if its the D8B, Cubase 4 or maybe my lightbridge.

Any suggestions?

Hey Pat,

It is late here (for me anyway… ) so I might abandon to sleepy time, but if you solo the new track(s) do you get the same volume waiver? And is it only the new track(s) that have this up and down volume shift?
More info needed on your monitoring of the signal that is going to "tape" - it is possible that what you are hearing while tracking is not what is going to the track. Just want to rule that out. Strange one though...

Well after actually reading your post... your wave form shows a consistent volume, so scratch the monitoring comment. If it is a full track and it solos fine, I would look at every point of the signal from tape out to your monitor of choice. Really need more information, and I need more brain power, and we most often get what we need, right? Okay... tired ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

As I am playing back in Cubase Studio 4 the wav. line is consistant visually but I can see the volume meter on that track specificly just drop out then pop back in pretty randomly but quickly. With this visual it seems not to be an issue with the d8b in or out but more with Cubase I suppose.

If it is the light bridge wouldnt the volume of all of the track do the same thing?

Have you tried switching the lightpipe cable out and re-recording something?
Does it do it across all ins & outs?
